As of August 17th, foreigners
arriving in Korea are required to pay their own treatment costs if they are
found to be infected with COVID-19 after having violated quarantine rules, such
as 1) Leaving their quarantine location without permission, 2) False submission
of their PCR test results, etc.
For foreigners who arrived on or later than
August 24th, if they are found to be infected with COVID-19, they will be
charged different amounts of their treatment costs based on the principle of
reciprocity in international relations.
- Foreigners from countries that support
treatment costs for foreigners including Korean: Fully covered
- Foreigners from countries that partially
support treatment costs for foreigners including Korean: Costs for
hospitalization will be covered, but costs for treatment, meals, etc. are not
covered
- Foreigners from countries that do not
support treatment costs for foreigners: Not covered
