국제처 주관 교환학생 축제의 장 ‘CAU Global Week’ 성료

CAU Global Week (an exchange student festival organized by the Office of International Affairs) was a great success

15일부터 18일까지 진행된 2023학년도 1학기 ‘CAU Global Week’ 행사가 성공적으로 마무리됐다. 

CAU Global Week, which took place during the first semester of the 2023 academic year from May 15th to 18th, has come to a successful conclusion.

CAU Global Week는 우리 대학에서 학업에 열중하고 있는 외국 자매대학 초청 교환학생들이 진행하는 행사다. 15일과 16일에는 글로벌 세미나, 17일과 18일에는 글로벌 페어 행사가 각각 진행됐다. 

CAU Global Week is organized by exchange students studying at Chung-Ang university. Global seminars were held on May 15th and 16th and the Global Fair was held on May 17th and 18th.

온라인으로 진행된 글로벌 세미나에는 미국·프랑스·호주·독일·싱가포르 초청 교환학생들이 참여했다. 교환학생들의 자매대학 소개와 중앙인의 교환학생 경험담을 공유하는 자리였다. 

Exchange students from the United States, France, Australia, Germany, and Singapore attended globally-focused online seminars. The students introduced their home countries and shared their experiences as exchange students.

이어 310관(100주년 기념관) 야외광장에서 ‘We, Re-connected’라는 주제로 ‘Spring 2023 CAU Global Fair’ 행사가 열렸다. 교환학생으로 재학 중인 초청·방문 학생들이 직접 부스를 운영하며 모교와 국가를 홍보하는 방식으로 행사가 진행됐다. 

The Spring 2023 CAU Global Fair was held in the outdoor plaza of Building 310 (Centennial Hall) with the title 'We, Re-connected'. Exchange students promoted their home countries at the event. Exchange students promoted their home countries at the event.

해외 대학 부스, 운영진 부스, 프로그램 부스, 특별 무대 등의 부스를 통해 해외 대학 관련 실질적인 정보들이 제공됐다. 특별 부스로 꾸려진 국제처 주관 상담 부스를 통해 교환학생 제도에 대한 궁금증을 해결하는 기회도 주어졌다. 

The event included many booths, each with a different activity for visitors to participate in. For example, booths representing countries from around the world and the Global Ambassador booth representing Korea each had fun activities to complete to learn more about the world and earn prizes. There also was a stage set up next to the booths that was used for exciting events including a spicy noodle eating challenge. A special booth hosted by the Office of International Affairs provided an opportunity for students to ask any questions about the exchange student program.

코로나19 팬데믹 이후 4년만에 대면으로 진행된 이번 글로벌 페어에는 큰 관심이 쏠렸다. 30개국 85개 이상 대학에서 온 200여 명의 교환학생이 우리 대학 학생들과 문화를 교류하고 화합하는 시간을 가지며, 글로벌 캠퍼스의 면모를 유감없이 발휘했다. 

The Global Fair was held in person for the first time in four years after the COVID-19 pandemic and had record attendance from the students on campus. More than 200 exchange students from more than 85 universities in 30 countries attended the event. The Global Fair was a great platform for students to learn about each other’s backgrounds and cultures on campus.

국제학생대사(Global Ambassador, GLAM)도 교환학생들과 함께 풍성한 행사를 마련하는 데 힘을 보탰다. 글램오락실, 버디팅 등 중앙인과 교환학생의 교류를 위한 다양한 프로그램과 기념품을 준비해 눈길을 끌었다. 글램 주도로 진행된 무대 프로그램에서는 교환학생과 중앙인의 끼를 마음껏 표현할 수 있는 시간이 마련되기도 했다. 

The CAU Global Ambassadors (GLAM) also helped organize additional activities with the exchange students. Souvenirs were gifted to exchange students after they completed a Korea trivia game and buddy program activity prepared by the GLAMs. Activities led by GLAM on the main stage also allowed the exchange students and hosts to perform their talents.

박상규 총장은 17일 글로벌 페어 행사장을 찾아 부스들을 체험하며 학생들에게 응원과 격려를 건넸다. 교환학생들은 이에 대한 화답으로 스승의 날 기념 카네이션과 롤링 페이퍼를 전달했다. 

On May 17th, the president of Chung-Ang University, Sang-Gyu Park, visited the Global Fair to show support and encourage students participation in the event. To show their appreciation, the exchange students gifted carnations and letters commemorating Teacher's Day to the president.

박상규 총장은 “오랜만에 대면으로 글로벌 페어 행사를 진행할 수 있게 돼 기쁘다. 서로가 화합함으로써 중앙대가 글로벌 대학으로 더욱 발전할 수 있기를 바란다. 인생의 특별한 경험들을 하는 시간을 가지길 응원하겠다”고 전했다. 

President Sang-Gue Park said, "I am glad that we were able to organize the Global Fair event face-to-face after a long time. By communicating with each other, Chung-Ang University can further develop to be a more global university. I hope all of the students will cherish this spe-cial experience in their life."

CAU Global Week 행사는 2학기에도 진행될 예정이다. 국제처 관계자는 “이번에 참여하지 못한 학생도 참여할 수 있길 기대한다”고 전했다. 

CAU Global Week is scheduled to take place next semester as well. "We look forward to welcoming students who were unable to participate this time around”, said an administrator from the Office of International Affairs.
