Studying English and Getting a Micro-credential at Lakehead University 🇨🇦 English Language Centre

As you plan to expand your future academic journey, enhancing your knowledge of the English language and the many cultures this language represents, increasing your proficiency in this language is part of this process.

The English Innovation Programs (EIPs) ◀ are unique short-term programs geared to those who want to improve their English language proficiency in specific areas of interest such as business, science and technology or applied sciences.

Learning takes place through a combination of formal classroom instruction and experiential learning as students will interact with guest speakers, visit local companies, and complete group projects related to the content.

The EIP themes ◀ :

○ Innovation, Leadership and English for Applied Sciences and Technology

○ Innovation, Leadership and English for Business

○ Exploring Indigenous and Settler Cultures

○ Enhancing Global Competence with English Language Learning and Career 

○ Development 

○ Indigenous English Program

○ General English

Duration:

2-3 or 4 weeks*

20 hrs/week+ 10 hrs/week extracurricular activities

Earn a Micro-credential

Participants will receive a Micro Credential Certificate from the Lakehead University’s English Language Centre and Community Zone. Micro-credentials provide a pathway for students to acquire targeted skills, enhance their employability, and demonstrate their expertise in specific areas. Participants will be able to use this certificate to demonstrate the value of a program supported by a nationally recognized Canadian university.
