For students with an interest in astronomy, the Island of Hawai'i is the best place in the world to view the stars because of the collection of world-class observatories located on the mountain called Mauna Kea. This summer, the University of Hawai'i at Hilo is offering a summer class on "Software Systems for Astronomy" which takes advantage of our unique location and the many astronomy experts on this island to provide students with an intensive two-week class on using current software for astronomical research. The class is open to any student with a background in astronomy and computer science.
