우리 대학과 협력 관계를 맺고 있는 네덜란드 UT(University of Twente)와 대만 NTNU(National Taiwan Normal University)가 서울캠퍼스를 방문해 파트너십을 한층 더 끈끈하게 만드는 시간을 가졌다.

The University of Twente (UT) from the Netherlands and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) from Taiwan visited our Seoul campus to further strengthen the partnership between our university and these institutions.

네덜란드 동부에 위치한 연구중심대학 UT 관계자들이 2일 서울캠퍼스를 방문했다. 2018년 학생교류 협정을 체결하며 이어온 협력 범위를 한층 확대하기 위해서다.

Representatives from the research-oriented UT, located in the eastern part of the Netherlands, visited the Seoul campus on the 2nd. The purpose of their visit was to expand the scope of collaboration, following the signing of a student exchange agreement in 2018.

 UT는 현재 5개 학부를 보유하고 있다. ▲Engineering Technology(ET) ▲Electrical Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science(EWI) ▲Science and Technology (TNW) ▲Behavioural, Management & Social Sciences(BMS) ▲Geo-Information Science & Earth Observation(ITC) 학부를 통해 협정 이후 5년간 41명의 초청·파견 학생을 우리 대학과 교환했다.

UT currently houses five faculties: Engineering Technology (ET), Electrical Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science (EWI), Science and Technology (TNW), Behavioural, Management & Social Sciences (BMS), and Geo-Information Science & Earth Observation (ITC). Since the agreement, UT has exchanged a total of 41 students with our university. 

이날 우리 대학을 방문한 UT 국제처 관계자 L.A. Lotte Sander MSc는 “UT에서는 특수 강좌를 제외한 모든 수업이 영어로 진행된다. 본 전공 이외 다른 학과 수업을 자유롭게 들을 수 있는 것도 장점”이라며, “현지에서 중앙대의 인기가 높아지고 있다. 현재 경영·사회과학 중심으로 체결돼 있는 협정을 공과대학까지 추가 확대할 수 있을지를 논의하고자 한다”고 했다.

L.A. Lotte Sander MSc, an international office representative from UT, mentioned, "All classes at UT, except for special courses, are conducted in English. The ability to freely take classes from other departments besides one's major is an advantage." She added, "The popularity of Chung-Ang University is increasing locally. We would like to discuss the possibility of expanding the current agreement, which is centered on business and social sciences, to include the College of Engineering."

같은 날 오후에는 대만 NTNU 관계자들이 우리 대학을 찾았다. 올해 8월 박상규 총장이 대만을 방문한 데 대한 화답으로 Yung-Hsiang Ying 부총장을 비롯해 11명의 NTNU 관계자가 함께한 대규모 방문이었다.

Later the same day, representatives from NTNU in Taiwan visited our university. This visit, which included Vice President Yung-Hsiang Ying and 11 other NTNU representatives, was in response to President Park Sang-kyu's visit to Taiwan in August of this year.

NTNU는 1992년 건립된 대만 일류대학으로 총 1만6626명의 학생과 1625명의 교수진을 보유하고 있다. 우리 대학과는 1983년 학생교류 및 일반협정을 체결했고, 2005년부터 초청학생 57명과 파견학생 37명을 교환했다.

NTNU, established in 1992, is a leading university in Taiwan with a total of 16,626 students and 1,625 faculty members. Our university has had a student exchange and general agreement with NTNU since 1983, and since 2005, 57 invited students and 37 dispatched students have participated in the exchange.

NTNU 방문단은 CALIS(CAU Leaders of international Students)의 도움을 받아 한 시간 가량 서울캠퍼스와 글로벌 페어 행사 현장을 둘러보는 시간을 가졌다. Yung-Hsiang Ying 부총장은 GCC(Global Community Center) 앞에 설치된 무대에 올라 글로벌 페어를 축하하는 연설을 진행하기도 했다.

The NTNU delegation, with the assistance of CALIS (CAU Leaders of International Students), spent about an hour touring the Seoul campus and the Global Fair event venue. Vice President Yung-Hsiang Ying delivered a speech congratulating the Global Fair from the stage installed in front of the Global Community Center (GCC).

방문단은 본관으로 자리를 옮겨 우수한 국제처장, 신중범 국제교류팀장 등과 함께 본격적인 미팅을 진행했다.

Moving to the main building, the delegation held substantive meetings with key figures, including the outstanding director of the International Office, and Shin Joong-beom, head of the International Exchange Team.

NTNU 관계자들은 우리 대학의 기숙사, 연구, 학생지원 등에 특히 큰 관심을 나타냈다. 기숙사 관리 방안과 학생생활 상담 방법 등 시설과 학사 운영에 대한 양 대학의 노하우들이 이날 미팅을 통해 오갔다.

NTNU representatives expressed particular interest in our university's dormitories, research, and student support. Insights into facilities and academic operations from both universities were exchanged during the meeting.

우수한 국제처장은 “한국에 온 것을 환영한다. 대만은 우리의 매우 중요한 파트너”라며, “지리적·인종적 유사성을 토대로 학생 교류를 확대하고, 학생들의 성공을 위해 건설적으로 협력하는 관계가 됐으면 한다”고 했다.

Su-Han Woo, Vice President of the International Office welcomed the visitors, stating, "Welcome to Korea. Taiwan is a very important partner for us." He expressed the desire to expand student exchanges based on geographical and racial similarities and to build a constructive relationship for the success of students.
