Representatives from
UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County) and Sapporo University in Japan
visited Chung-Ang University to discuss plans for expanding international
exchange programs this month.
¹Ì±¹ UMBC(University of Maryland, Baltimore County) °ü°èÀÚµéÀÌ 18ÀÏ ¿ì¸® ´ëÇÐÀ» ¹æ¹®ÇØ ±¹Á¦±³·ùÆÀ°ú ¹ÌÆÃÀ» ½Ç½ÃÇß´Ù. ¿ì¸® ´ëÇаú UMBC°¡ ½Ç½ÃÇÏ°í ÀÖ´Â ´Ü±â ÇÁ·Î±×·¥¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ÁúÀÇÀÀ´ä¿¡ ´õÇØ ³»³â ÇùÁ¤ °»½Å ÀÇÁö¸¦ ÀçÈ®ÀÎÇϱâ À§ÇÑ ÀÚ¸®¿´´Ù.
Representatives from UMBC visited our university and met with
our International Exchange Team on the 18th of this month. The
meeting included a Q&A session regarding the short-term exchange programs at
CAU and UMBC. Plans were also made to renew the mutual university partnership agreement
for the upcoming year.
UMBC´Â ¸Þ¸±·£µåÁÖ ¼ÒÀç 12°³ ´ëÇаú 3°³ Áö¿ª °íµî±³À°¼¾Å͸¦ °ü¸®ÇÏ´Â USM(The University System of Maryland)¿¡ ¼ÓÇØ ÀÖ´Â ´ëÇÐ Áß Çϳª´Ù. ¿ì¸® ´ëÇÐÀº 2020³â UMBC¿Í Çлý±³·ù ÇùÁ¤À» ü°áÇÑ ÀÌÈÄ ²ÙÁØÈ÷ ±³·ù¸¦ À¯ÁöÇØ ¿À°í ÀÖ´Ù.
UMBC is one of the universities that is a part of the USM
(University System of Maryland). The USM oversees 12 universities and 3
regional higher education centers in Maryland. In 2020, CAU and UMBC signed a
student exchange agreement that is still ongoing today.
À̳¯ UMBC ±¹Á¦Ã³ÀÇ Ogonna Owu Jones(Faculty-Led Study Abroad Coordinator, Center for Global Engagement)´Â ¿ì¸® ´ëÇÐ ISP(International summer program)¿Í GSI(Global Student Internship)¿¡ Å« °ü½ÉÀ» º¸¿´´Ù. ¾Æ¿ï·¯ ¾ÕÀ¸·Î ¿ì¸® ´ëÇаúÀÇ Çлý±³·ù¸¦ ´õ¿í È®´ëÇØ ³ª°¥ °ÍÀ» ¾à¼ÓÇß´Ù.
During the visit, UMBC's Center for Global
Engagement and Faculty-Led Study Abroad Coordinator, Ogonna Owu Jones, showed
great interest in our university's ISP (International Summer Program) and GSI
(Global Student Internship). Additionally, a commitment was made to further
expand student exchanges between our university and UMBC in the future.

After the meeting, the UMBC representatives attended a
private tour of our Seoul campus led by our university's Global Ambassadors
(GLAM). The campus tour included stops at the dormitories, Global Community
Center (GCC), and rooftop garden in building 310.
À̾î 20ÀÏ¿¡´Â ÀϺ» »ñÆ÷·Î´ë(Sapporo University) °ü°èÀÚµéÀÌ ¿ì¸® ´ëÇÐÀ» ¹æ¹®Çß´Ù. »ñÆ÷·Î´ë´Â ÈÊÄ«À̵µ »ñÆ÷·Î½Ã¿¡ À§Ä¡ÇÑ »ç¸³´ëÇÐÀ¸·Î 2003³â ÇùÁ¤À» ü°áÇÑ ÀÌÈÄ ¿ì¸® ´ëÇаú ¿ìÈ£ÀûÀÎ °ü°è¸¦ À¯ÁöÇÏ´Â ÁßÀÌ´Ù.
On the 20th of this month, officials from
Sapporo University in Japan also visited our university. Sapporo University is
a private university located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. In 2003, our
universities signed a partnership agreement that is still maintained today.

CAU¡¯s Office of International Affairs organized a meeting
with representatives from Sapporo University, including Dr. Kweon Daehwan,
International Center Associate Professor and Head of International Exchanges;
Ms. Sugiyama Koyomi, Instructor in the Department of Japanese Language and
Literature; and Ms. Iwamoto Maki, Administrative Staff Member at the
International Communication Center. The meeting included discussions about the status
of current exchange programs and information about the respective schools'
facilities.

Dr. Kweon expressed great interest in our university's
on-campus dormitories, as Sapporo University does not have its own dormitories.
Our Office of International Affairs staff explained that off-campus housing is
also an option for our students, as the cost of off-campus monthly rent near
campus is relatively affordable compared to Japanese regions. Additionally, CAU
has a partnership agreement with a housing facility located about 10 minutes
away from the university by foot, where several exchange students stay.

After the meeting, the representatives from Sapporo
University attended a campus tour of our Seoul campus. Two Sapporo University
students who are currently studying at our university also joined the tour to
share their firsthand experiences as exchange students at CAU.

Affairs said, "We are pleased to hear that our university students
studying at Sapporo University as exchange students are having a good
experience. Given the strong relationship we have maintained over 20 years, we
look forward to organizing even stronger collaborations in the future."
