미국 UMBC와 일본 삿포로대 관계자들이 우리 대학을 방문해 교류 확대 방안에 대해 논의하는 시간을 가졌다.

Representatives from UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County) and Sapporo University in Japan visited Chung-Ang University to discuss plans for expanding international exchange programs this month. 

미국 UMBC(University of Maryland, Baltimore County) 관계자들이 18일 우리 대학을 방문해 국제교류팀과 미팅을 실시했다. 우리 대학과 UMBC가 실시하고 있는 단기 프로그램에 대한 질의응답에 더해 내년 협정 갱신 의지를 재확인하기 위한 자리였다. 

Representatives from UMBC visited our university and met with our International Exchange Team on the 18^th of this month. The meeting included a Q&A session regarding the short-term exchange programs at CAU and UMBC. Plans were also made to renew the mutual university partnership agreement for the upcoming year.



UMBC는 메릴랜드주 소재 12개 대학과 3개 지역 고등교육센터를 관리하는 USM(The University System of Maryland)에 속해 있는 대학 중 하나다. 우리 대학은 2020년 UMBC와 학생교류 협정을 체결한 이후 꾸준히 교류를 유지해 오고 있다. 

UMBC is one of the universities that is a part of the USM (University System of Maryland). The USM oversees 12 universities and 3 regional higher education centers in Maryland. In 2020, CAU and UMBC signed a student exchange agreement that is still ongoing today.



이날 UMBC 국제처의 Ogonna Owu Jones(Faculty-Led Study Abroad Coordinator, Center for Global Engagement)는 우리 대학 ISP(International summer program)와 GSI(Global Student Internship)에 큰 관심을 보였다. 아울러 앞으로 우리 대학과의 학생교류를 더욱 확대해 나갈 것을 약속했다.

During the visit, UMBC's Center for Global Engagement and Faculty-Led Study Abroad Coordinator, Ogonna Owu Jones, showed great interest in our university's ISP (International Summer Program) and GSI (Global Student Internship). Additionally, a commitment was made to further expand student exchanges between our university and UMBC in the future.

UMBC 관계자들은 미팅 이후 우리 대학 국제학생홍보대사 글램(GLAM, Global Ambassador)과 함께 서울캠퍼스를 둘러봤다. 기숙사, GCC(Global Community Center), 310관 옥상정원 등을 방문하는 캠퍼스 투어를 끝으로 이번 방문 일정을 마무리했다. 

After the meeting, the UMBC representatives attended a private tour of our Seoul campus led by our university's Global Ambassadors (GLAM). The campus tour included stops at the dormitories, Global Community Center (GCC), and rooftop garden in building 310.

이어 20일에는 일본 삿포로대(Sapporo University) 관계자들이 우리 대학을 방문했다. 삿포로대는 훗카이도 삿포로시에 위치한 사립대학으로 2003년 협정을 체결한 이후 우리 대학과 우호적인 관계를 유지하는 중이다. 

On the 20^th of this month, officials from Sapporo University in Japan also visited our university. Sapporo University is a private university located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. In 2003, our universities signed a partnership agreement that is still maintained today.

이날 삿포로대와 우리 대학 국제교류팀이 가진 미팅에는 ▲Dr. Kweon Daehwan 국제교류위원장(International Center Associate Professor) ▲Ms. Sugiyama Koyomi 일본어문학부 강사(Instructor of Department of Japanese Language and Literature) ▲Ms. Iwamoto Maki 국제처 직원(Administrative staff, International Communication Center)이 참석했다. 두 대학의 파견프로그램 현황과 학교시설을 소개하는 시간이 이어졌다. 

CAU’s Office of International Affairs organized a meeting with representatives from Sapporo University, including Dr. Kweon Daehwan, International Center Associate Professor and Head of International Exchanges; Ms. Sugiyama Koyomi, Instructor in the Department of Japanese Language and Literature; and Ms. Iwamoto Maki, Administrative Staff Member at the International Communication Center. The meeting included discussions about the status of current exchange programs and information about the respective schools' facilities.



특히 Dr. Kweon은 우리 대학 캠퍼스 내 기숙사에 큰 관심을 나타냈다. 삿포로대 캠퍼스 내에는 기숙사가 없기 때문이다. 다만, 일본 타 지역에 비해 월세가 저렴한 편이며, 대학과 도보로 10분이면 닿을 거리에 협약을 맺어 운영 중인 주거시설이 있다는 소개가 뒤따랐다.

Dr. Kweon expressed great interest in our university's on-campus dormitories, as Sapporo University does not have its own dormitories. Our Office of International Affairs staff explained that off-campus housing is also an option for our students, as the cost of off-campus monthly rent near campus is relatively affordable compared to Japanese regions. Additionally, CAU has a partnership agreement with a housing facility located about 10 minutes away from the university by foot, where several exchange students stay.

이어진 캠퍼스 투어에는 현재 우리 대학에서 교환학생 생활 중인 삿포로대 학생 두 명이 함께 참여했다. 이들은 우리 대학에서 경험 중인 교환학생 생활을 생생하게 공유했다. 

After the meeting, the representatives from Sapporo University attended a campus tour of our Seoul campus. Two Sapporo University students who are currently studying at our university also joined the tour to share their firsthand experiences as exchange students at CAU.



국제교류팀 관계자는 “삿포로대에서 교환학생으로 재학 중인 우리 대학 학생들이 잘 생활하고 있다는 소식을 전해 듣게 돼 기쁘다. 20년간 돈독한 관계를 유지해 온 만큼 향후 더 긴밀한 협력 사례들을 만들어나갈 수 있을 것이라 기대한다”고 전했다. 

A representative from the CAU Office of International Affairs said, "We are pleased to hear that our university students studying at Sapporo University as exchange students are having a good experience. Given the strong relationship we have maintained over 20 years, we look forward to organizing even stronger collaborations in the future."
