We are pleased to inform you that the Ca' Foscari School for International Education (SIE) will once again be offering for-credit Italian Language courses and Semester courses in English to incoming students in mobility at no cost during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

The courses available in the second semester are the following:

Italian Language courses

[SIE070-A] Introduction to the Italian language A: Communication and culture (level A1 or A2)

[SIE070-B] Introduction to the Italian language B: Forms, structures, and meanings (level A1 or A2)

[SIE071] Italian language - pre-intermediate (level B1)

[SIE072] Italian language - intermediate (level B2)

Each course provides 6 ECTS and includes a language practice module for a total of 80 hours of lessons. Attendance is mandatory.

All students must take an online Placement Test in order to complete their application. Once we have their results, they will be assigned to the correct class.

English-taught courses

[SIE001] Contemporary History of Venice

[SIE066] Venetian Art and Archaeology – 2: Venetian Heritage in the Adriatic and in the Mediterranean

[SIE080] The Law of the New Space Economy

[SIE089] Introduction to Latin for International students

[SIE090] Anthropology of the Contemporary Global World

[SIE091] Introduction to Dante: Inferno

Each course provides 6 ECTS. Attendance is generally not mandatory, but teachers may ask all students to attend a minimum number of lessons and/or assign some additional bibliography to non-attending students.

Syllabi and schedules

The complete syllabi and the schedules of all courses will be available on the website approximately in early February.

How to register

Students can register for all courses by filling out the online Application Form which they received via email.

Each course will only be activated if it reaches a minimum number of participants.

Registration will be limited to a maximum number of students per class. Priority will be given in order of having filled out this form. Applicants not added to the class will be placed on a waitlist, and will be added to the course if a place becomes available.

How to take the Placement Test

To take the online Placement Test, students need to already have their matricola (student enrolment number) and password. They can take the test at the link which they received via email.

Deadlines

The deadline for the Application Form (all courses) is January 15, 2024.

The deadline for the Placement Test (Italian language courses) is January 22, 2024.
