Online Courses to be Offered for First Two Weeks of Semester Due
to Spread of COVID-19
¡°All courses to be provided as Non-face-to-face Online Courses for the First
Two Weeks¡±
Dear all members
of Chung-Ang University,
We have been sparing
no effort in responding to the coronavirus outbreak by mobilizing all available
measures including delaying the start of the semester for two weeks. However,
the severity of the situation is increasing and the government raised the
COVID-19 alert level to the highest of ¡°Red¡± on Feb 23. Since universities
exist for education and research, which requires a large number of people
gathering in a closed space for a long time, there is no doubt that our
campuses are vulnerable to the spread of the virus. For now, no one can
guarantee that it will be safe to offer courses on campus after the adjusted semester
start date.
In response
to these circumstances, on Feb 25, 2020, the CAU Academic Board has decided to offer
all courses as non-face-to-face online courses for the first two weeks of the
new semester (Mar 16 (Mon) ~ Mar 28 (Sat)).
For those two
weeks, professors will be asked to offer their courses online with course
materials prepared at their discretion. Please be noted that online courses
can be provided for more than two weeks and additional measures could be taken
depending on how the outbreak unfolds.
Overcoming
the coronavirus outbreak requires more flexibility in academic curriculum. We
are working on preparing follow-up measures of the online course weeks, and
relevant notices will be posted on the official website as soon as we come up
with any arrangements or decisions. We are acknowledging the inconvenience this
unprecedented circumstance has caused to you, but we ask for your kind
consideration and understanding on our decisions.
Chung-Ang
University will continue to make utmost efforts to keep both campuses safe from
the virus through effective infection prevention and control. Please pay close
attention to personal hygiene and follow infection prevention guidelines
provided by the government and us until the outbreak is contained.
We wish all
CAU members and your families the best of luck and health until we see each
other on campus without concern over the virus.
