2025 FUBiS Summer Program
FUBiS is excited to share a new course offering that may be of interest to students who already have a strong command of the German language and want to hone additional skills by refining their academic writing: "Wissenschaftliches Schreiben auf Deutsch" (Academic Writing in German).
This course is designed for students at the intermediate B2 level or advanced C1 level and goes beyond the scope of traditional language courses. Participants focus on their writing with hands-on exercises and learn the tools they need to produce well-structured texts and thus excel in German academic discourse. This approach opens up the possibility for a particularly compelling package when combined with a German language and culture course, either within the same FUBiS term for a more intensive program or across both summer terms for a longer study abroad experience.
About the Course
This 4-week course is offered on site in Berlin as part of FUBiS Term III (July 26 to August 23, 2025). The course is designed for students, doctoral candidates, and researchers with B2 or C1-level German. Participants will learn to develop research questions, draft Exposés, construct persuasive arguments, and navigate the stylistic and grammatical nuances of German academic language conventions. The course covers key aspects of academic work, from research and citation practices to presenting written and oral arguments effectively. Through interactive writing labs and hands-on exercises, participants will gain essential skills for excelling in German academic discourse while also acquiring transferable writing skills that can be applied across disciplines and languages.
Course Combinations and Discounts
The course can be taken as a standalone option or be combined with a language course either in the same term or across both summer terms. Participants who enroll in both summer terms benefit from a one-time discount on the program fee amounting to 200 € plus an additional discount of 10% on the tuition of FUBiS Term III courses.
