국제처, 2023 NAFSA 국제교류자 박람회 참가... 아메리칸대 캠퍼스 방문도
The Office of International Affairs participates in the 2023 NAFSA International Education Expo and visits American University’s Campus
우리 대학 국제처 국제교류팀이 지난달 30일부터 2일까지 미국 워싱턴DC 소재 월터 E. 워싱턴 컨벤션 센터(Walter E. Washington Convention Center)에서 개최된 NAFSA 국제교류자 박람회에 참가했다.
‘NAFSA 2023 Annual Conference & Expo’가 정식 명칭인 NAFSA 국제교류자 박람회는 세계적인 국제교육단체 국제교류자협회 NAFSA(National Association of Foreign Student Advisers)가 매년 개최하는 행사다. 국제교류자 박람회 중 최대 규모로 올해 75주년을 맞이했다. 이번 박람회 기간 동안 100여 개 국가에서 9000여 명의 관계자가 참석해 그 인기와 명성을 실감케 했다.
우리 대학 국제처는 우리나라 대학 11개교가 공동 운영한 한국관 ‘Study in Korea’에 우리 대학 홍보 부스를 차렸다. 부스를 찾은 세계 각국의 대학과 학생교류, 교육협력, 국제화 등의 주제를 놓고 미팅을 진행했다.
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Chung-Ang University set up a promotional booth at the "Study in Korea" Korean Pavilion, jointly operated by 11 Korean universities. Representatives from universities from around the world visited the CAU booth to discuss topics such as student exchange, educational cooperation, and internationalization.
박람회에 참가한 국제교류팀 신중범 팀장과 이경빈 주임은 ▲미국 George Washington University(QS World Ranking 362, 이하 QS World Ranking 생략) ▲네덜란드 Wageningen University & Research(124) ▲영국 SOAS University of London(443) ▲독일 Technische Universitat Darmstadt(275) 등 유수의 해외 명문대학들과 신규협정 체결에 대해 논의했다. 기존에 협정을 맺은 자매대학과 회의를 진행하며 교환학생 교류학과 확대, 기존 협정 갱신, 교원 교류 등 활발하고 지속적인 교류 방안을 논의하는 시간도 가졌다.
During the Expo, Mr. Shin JB, the director of OIA, and Ms. Lee Kyung-bin, an OIA staff member, led meetings on establishing new agreements with prestigious overseas universities such as ▲George Washington University in the United States (QS World Ranking 362), ▲Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands (QS World Ranking 124), ▲SOAS University of London in the UK (QS World Ranking 443), and ▲Technische Universitat Darmstadt in Germany (QS World Ranking 275). Meetings were also conducted with existing partner universities to discuss expanding student exchange programs, renewing current agreements, and promoting active and continuous faculty exchange.
박람회 참가에 앞서 국제교류팀은 우리 대학과 교환학생 협정 체결을 진행 중인 아메리칸대(American University) 캠퍼스를 방문했다. 아메리칸대는 1893년 설립된 명문 사립대학으로 박람회 개최 장소인 워싱턴DC에 위치하고 있다. 학부 국제경영 분야의 경쟁력이 미국 내 대학랭킹 8위를 차지할 만큼 뛰어난 대학이다.
Prior to participating in the Expo, the OIA visited American University’s campus. Chung-Ang University is currently in the process of establishing a student exchange agreement with American University. Founded in 1893, American University (AU) is a prestigious private university located in Washington, D.C., the venue for the Expo. American University’s Undergraduate International Business Program is ranked 8th among all universities in the United States.
아메리칸대와 우리 대학은 현재 협력 체계를 구축하기 위한 절차를 밟고 있다. 올해 4월 아메리칸대 코갓경영대학(Kogod School of Business) 관계자들이 우리 대학을 방문해 경영대학과의 협력 방안을 논의하고 사전 의향서를 체결하기도 했다.
American University and CAU are currently in the process of establishing a cooperative framework. In April of this year, representatives from the Kogod School of Business at American University visited CAU to discuss cooperation plans and signed a Declaration of Intent to explore future collaboration opportunities.
국제교류팀 관계자들은 이날 아메리칸대를 찾아 양 대학의 경영대학이 체결할 예정인 교환협정 진행 상황을 공유하고, 대학 시설을 견학했다. 차후 협정이 체결되면, 우리 대학 학생들이 워싱턴DC 소재 대학이란 파견 교환 선택지를 추가로 제공받을 수 있게 될 전망이다.
During their visit to American University, the OIA staff shared the progress of the exchange agreement being pursued by both university’s business schools and toured AU’s campus facilities. If the agreement is reached, CAU students will have the opportunity to study abroad at American University.
국제교류팀 관계자는 “2024학년도 1학기 파견 교환·방문 학생 선발이 7월 초부터 진행될 예정”이라며 “파견 프로그램에 관심있는 학생은 국제교류팀 홈페이지(https://oia.cau.ac.kr/k_main.php) 공지사항을 통해 관련 정보를 얻을 수 있다”고 전했다.
An official from the OIA stated, "The selection process for the 2024 academic year's exchange and visiting students will begin in early July," and "students interested in the exchange program can obtain relevant information through the announcement section of our International Exchange Team's website”.
