Tokyo Metropolitan University(TMU) Summer Program 

on Japanese & Japan Studies in 2023

We are pleased to promote our “TMU Summer Program on Japanese & Japan Studies in 2023”, which will be conducted from July 4 to July 18, 2023. We look forward to receiving many applications.

Contents of Program

The 2-week program consists of 42 hours of Japanese language study, and 13.5 hours of Japan Studies.

Students will be evaluated according to class participation, oral presentation and quizzes.

A certificate will be issued upon completion of the program.

Program Length

July 4 (Tuesday) –January 18 (Tuesday), 2023

Japanese Language Placement Test

Students will be allocated to classes based on their Japanese language level according “SPOT90” test.

Before applying the program, students will have to take “SPOT90” test with free of charge.

Score of 31-40 → Beginner-level Japanese

Score of 41-55 → Pre-intermediate-level Japanese

Score of 56-70 → Intermediate-level Japanese

Program Fee

JPY 120,000

*This program fee includes accommodation fee, education materials, and admission fees for field trips.

Not included in this fee are meals, airfare, traveler’s insurance, transportation between the University and accommodation, and daily expenses.

Tuition fee is waived according to the exchange agreement. Successful applicants should pay the program fee by overseas remittance no later than the end of November.

Details of the payment method will be sent after the application is accepted.

* If you would like to nominate more than 3 students, please consult us in advance of nomination.

* Please note that, for the purpose of redress of balance on the number of inbound / outbound students, we may ask you to adjust the number of nominees if the total number exceeds the maximum number of participants shown below.

　After filling in the applications and ready for certification, please submit them in our online application form.

* Please apply and send the following documents to the program coordinator at your home university by May 16.
