Greetings from National Chengchi University, Taiwan. 

We are excited to let you know that applications for NCCU’s International Summer School (ISS) are now available. NCCU has been working hard over the past year to prepare for a summer program that can offer your students native insights into contemporary and historical East-Asian and Taiwanese culture, world-class Mandarin Chinese language training, and cultural experiences that are second to none. Our ISS programs are a complete package, offering field trips, accommodation options, and any other assistance you might need for a comfortable and rewarding summer school experience in Taipei. We appreciate that you take time to look over this brief information package we have prepared and keep yourself informed of all the exiting opportunities and plans we have for the 2022 ISS at NCCU.

The 2022 summer program at NCCU offers three different options for your summer studies, including:

• East-Asian and Taiwan Studies
  This English taught program covers some of the most important topics in historical and contemporary Sinology. It presents students with a comprehensive and wide-ranging understanding of Taiwan and its place in Asia and the world.
  Courses include: Taiwan’s Political Development, Taiwan’s Economic Policy, Religions in Chinese Societies. Taiwan’s Indigenous People in Contemporary Context, Key Concepts/Symbols in the Construction of Chinese National Identity, Taiwan’s External Relations and so forth.

• Intensive Mandarin Chinese Language Training
  NCCU is home to Taiwan’s top-rated Chinese language training faculty and ambiance, and in this course we provide students with the opportunity to study Chinese in a native environment. Students will be assessed prior to the classes and placed in streams according to their original Mandarin ability.

• Cultural Activities and Field Trips
  Our ISS also offers a package of field trips and cultural activities that are designed to give students a wider look at Taiwan’s diverse culture and society. Activities and field trips can be tailored to fit students’ interests and areas of study. Some examples of past trips include: Visiting the National Palace Museum and Taipei’s old town, visiting Taipei 101 and Taipei’s Elephant Mountain, Calligraphy Courses, Visiting natural geological formations along Taiwan’s coast, and much more.

These courses are particularly scheduled so that they can be taken in tandem with one another if so desired.
