Dear Beloved International Undergraduate Students, and Their Guardians.
Due to the sudden outbreak of Corona 19 around the world earlier this year, I am truly sorry that you have been continuing your study through such hard times. Although the new semester will begin very soon, it is obvious that we have to be prepared in dealing with this worldwide pandemic situation that will hopefully end soon. Chung-Ang University is trying our best to keep you safe and help you focus on your studies with minimum concern about COVID-19.
In this context, we decided to give back 6% of the tuition fee, which was actually paid last Spring semester, to all of the undergraduate degree seeking students who enrolled in our university as a special scholarship, in order to lessen the burden and share the pain with you.
The financial resources required for the special scholarship payment of the university has been set at 38.3 billion Korean Won in total. In order to have enough funds, CAU and student representatives agreed to reduce the number of scholarship beneficiaries. This is not only for the scholarship, but also to give benefits in the form of the special scholarship to as many students as possible. Under the circumstance of the previous semester where the grading system itself lost its function to distinguish students depending on their grades with a face-to-face course system.
Under these circumstances, it is inevitable to adjust the academic scholarship of international students. Thus, we had to make a decision to reduce the academic scholarship since the number of academic scholarship candidates has increased more than double after the COVID-19 situation. In order to balance the scale of reduction the amount of scholarship for Korean students, the amount of scholarship for international students this semester was adjusted to the level similar to that of Korean students.
The scholarship table has been updated as listed below in order to make the distinguishment function of the academic scholarship normalize and to broaden the range of the beneficiaries.
GPA | Scholarship |
4.3 or above | 100% of the tuition |
4.0 or above | 50% of the tuition |
3.7 or above | 30% of the tuition |
3.2 or above | 20% of the tuition |
Dear Valuable Students and Guardians,
In response to the spread of the epidemic last semester, all of the faculty members tried our very best not only for quarantine activities but also for smooth academic management. However, there must have been some inconvenience caused by the sudden changes in our academic schedule due to an unprecedented situation. The Office of International Affairs plans to provide more thorough preparations than last semester to help international students study abroad in a safe environment within the boundary of Chung-Ang University. At the same time, we plan to establish and implement improved support for international students to help them adopt themselves to the university life and improve their academic ability.
I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all the international students who have trusted and supported Chung-Ang University despite the difficult situation, and to the parents who are devoted to their children's study abroad with sincerity and love from afar. I wish your family peace, happiness, and health.
